Why it looks flipped: the traditional bagua chart is drawn with south at the top, so east sits on the left and west on the right — the opposite of a normal map, where north is up. Nothing is mirrored; it is simply the view from above with south facing you.
How to lay it over your home: first find the compass directions of the building (a phone compass is enough), then hold this map so its top edge points to the south of the house. The door-based method instead begins the map at your entrance, which turns the zones to match where the door stands.
